Stamp Duty 0.5%
Definition
Fixed duty of 0.5% of the sale price (or appraised value, whichever is higher) paid to the Land Office upon real estate transfer. Stamp Duty is generally borne by the seller, but is negotiable in the contract. It applies to sales outside the scope of Specific Business Tax (SBT)—typically resales after more than 5 years of ownership. For leases exceeding 3 years, the lease Stamp Duty is 0.1% of total rental amount.
