Specific Business Tax (SBT) 3.3%

Definition

A specific tax of 3.3% of the sale price, paid to the Land Office by the seller on real estate transfers deemed to be commercial activity. It applies notably to sales made within 5 years following acquisition (presumption of speculative intent). Beyond 5 years of ownership, the seller pays Stamp Duty 0.5% instead. The SBT is in reality 3.3% = 3% SBT + 0.3% surcharges (municipality, Revenue Department).
