DPE / GES (French Energy Labels)
Definition
Diagnostic de Performance Énergétique (DPE) and Gaz à Effet de Serre (GES) — mandatory French energy labels required for the sale and rental of property in France. Rated on a scale from A (very good) to G (energy-inefficient). Since 2025, properties classified as G are prohibited from being rented in France. In Thailand, no mandatory equivalent exists (tropical climate renders such standards inapplicable), though energy consumption in condominiums is measured via air-conditioning and water meters (read quarterly).
